Zuta Labs Mobile Printer

The Mobile Printer

A mobile printer has officially been created!  This printer is no bigger than three hockey pucks stacked on top of each other and will allow for people to print on the go.  They will also be able to print on any size of paper.

A company based out of Jerusalem called Zuta Labs has come up with a mobile printer that allows for printing on the go.  The workers of the company reasoned that printers are pretty much just printheads running back and forth on a piece of paper.  Their approach to creating this mobile printer was putting a printer head on a set of small wheels and letting it run across a sheet of paper.

The name "Zuta" literally means small in ancient Aramaic.  This fits the name of the company perfectly because this printer is definitely a small one.  Weighing in at around 12 ounces with a height of 4 inches wide, and 3 inches long.  The printer has the capability to connect to devices wirelessly, allowing you to even print from smartphones by downloading the app that they have for it.  For laptops and other computers, you would just select the printer like any other printer.  You then would just align the printer to the corner of a piece of paper and let it do its work.  Zuta Labs noted that the printer should be able to print on any type of surface.

Now, for the aspects of the things that allow the printer to work, they use omni wheels to allow the printer to move across the paper.  There is also a laser sensor which helps control the movement, speed, and control of the printer.  if several pages are sent to be printed, the printer will stop at the end of the first page, and wait until it is placed on top of the second page to be printed.  Some people may find this a little annoying if they have to print a large paper, but in my eyes this printer is more for convenience printings than it is for long essays or reports.

One problem that I saw with this printer is that the rechargeable battery lasts for one hour, or long enough to print 60 pages.  However, it takes about 3 hours to charge fully back to 100%.

Overall, I think that this is a really cool idea that could eventually change the way that we use printers.  It will definitely make it a lot easier to print things on the go if you perhaps forgot to print it. Although there are some kinks that I believe still need to work out, the people at Zuta Labs came up with a great product and can continue to improve on it to make it even better than it already is.

Below is a video of the Zuta Labs Mobile Printer official reveal.
