Bluetooth is a short range way of connecting electronic devices. Instead of using wires, bluetooth devices use radio waves. Bluetooth devices have a computer chip with a bluetooth radio and software which allows it to connect with other devices. The devices use an Ad Hoc network, which is a close distant or short distance network to communicate with each other. When the devices connect, one of the devices acts as the controller for all the bluetooth devices that are connected to it.
Bluetooth is often used to pair up phones and other computer type devices with audio devices. Bluetooth radios can be imputed into headphones, speakers, and car interfaces. These are used to play music and videos. New technology in the field has allowed companies to create bluetooth sensors with incredibly small batteries. Some developers have started making the bluetooth sensors run off of small solar panels for a limitless battery life. Bluetooth will be seen more and more in the future. Apple has been pushing bluetooth technology a lot as they completely removed the headphone jack from their newest iPhone making bluetooth the best way to listen to music.
