Carbon M1 3D Printer

On of the largest issues with current 3D printer is the immense time taken to print. I know with the classrooms in Mr. Gray's room, it takes 10-12 hours per print. For a whole class to print a single object in this time, it would take days.

Carbon 3D, formerly known as Carbon, is a startup company that is launching it's first 3D printer in April. Carbon 3D has now earned over 140 dollars in funding.

Carbon 3D's "M1" will operate 25 to 100 times faster than current 3D printers. "This speed advantage results from CLIP "growing" polymer parts continuously, via harnessing UV light and oxygen, whereas other commercialized 3D-printing techs pause briefly after each layer is printed." (McKenna) This printer will also be capable of printer much smoother than current printers. When the carbon of the printer mixes with the final print, it will help to make the product stronger.

The carbon M1 will be about 5.7 x 3.2 x 13 inches. The software is just as important as the hardware, with available software fixes whenever something goes astray. The product will cost 40,000 dollars per year, with a minimum 3 year term. Initial accessories will cost 12,000 dollars.

The Carbon M1 will surely be an innovation in the 3D print business. However, it is very costly. If it is to be implemented into businesses and other places to replace the current printers, it would be an expensive update.
