Tesla will be aiming to have a much smoother release for the Model 3 than some of their past releases of cars, mainly the Model X with the wing doors. Everything will be aimed at quality and quality control. Tesla has been given some slack in regards to quality control over the last few years, mostly because it is a relatively new company compared to other automotive manufacturers. The gigantic amount of support and love that Tesla has received from such a large group of people was not expected, so the company was overwhelmed with requests. Since there have been 400,000 preorders for the Model 3, Tesla will have to be at the top of their game. Tesla is on their way to becoming a widely popular and highly regarded car manufacturer with the Model 3 being targeted at people with less money to spend on a new car who want to break into the world of electric cars with a $35,000 base price.
The main feature of the Model 3 (and every other Tesla) is the gigantic iPad-esque touchscreen which is the center console. Tesla's are as much a tech product as they are an automobile, so they need the best people in the business to design the hardware and software for their cars. Tesla recently hired Apple's former Director of Reliability Engineering, David Erhart. At Tesla, Erhart will become the company's Senior Director of Reliability and Testing. Erhart will control a team that will play a more prominent role in the Model 3's production as it gets closer to launch. This position can be assumed to be for the electronics and the center console. The physical car itself would have to be finalized before the extra tech is added in, tested, and finalized for the final production of the Model 3.
