Audi's Electric Supercar

BMW released a hybrid supercar in 2015 called the "i8". This car has the capability of traveling for approximately 75 miles solely on its electric capability. Used in conjunction with the small 3 cylinder engine, the car can achieve upwards of 70 miles per gallon. BMW made a supercar that can get 70 mpg, and has released new models every year since its initial release. There has been virtually no competition in this market, and will not until about 2020.

The fellow German automotive company Audi has released its plans to release 3 electric cars onto the market by 2020. These cars will be marketed to compete with the BMW i8 as well as Tesla and Volkswagen. One car will be specifically designed to compete with the BMW i8. The other two cars will be an SUV and a compact car expected to be a sedan.

Audi's supercar is rumored to be completely electric and could last upwards of 300 miles drive time. BMW's second generation i8 will be released in 2022, predicted to have an output of about 700 horsepower. Whether or not the electric Audi will be on the same level in terms of horsepower remains to be seen.

This is a concept design for an Audi electric supercar. The model is closely related to Audi's conduction engine supercar, dubbed the "Audi R8". Above pictured is a rendition of what Audi's new electric supercar could be. The design of Audi's electric supercar would closely relate to the R8, and could possibly just be a variant of the R8 with electric driving capabilities. All of this is speculation, and Audi could opt to go with a completely new design, based around being futuristic like BMW's i8.
