The One World Trade Center is the tallest building in America and the sixth biggest tower in the world. It is located in lower Manhattan, New York city where the twin towers used to stand. Building and designing this tower was a huge feat of engineering. It reaches a total height of 1,792 feet and cost a total of 3.9 billion dollars. The structural engineering was from WSP Global which is a engineering firm from Montreal. Making the tower structurally sound was a difficult task because of the special design of the tower. The sides of the building make eight isosceles triangles on the side after the first two hundred feet which is shaped as a square. The outside of the tower is made out of glass and the structural components are made of steel. The engineer had to make sure that the materials used would be strong enough to support a huge amount of weight. Also because of its size and height, wind could cause some damage if not prepared for. If a storm was to come, the tower would have to be built so that it could withstand it. Because of its height, building the tower was also a incredibly difficult job. Engineers had to build a method on how to get the materials to the top and continue to construct the building. It took many different kinds of engineers to build the tower and was one of the greatest engineering feats in America.
